Surely Santa doesn't want you stuck in traffic?

Santa, he's magic. "Do you know what Santa's bringing me this year, Mom?" my little son asked me the other day, as he sat at the table eating his Coco-Pops. "What?" I ask, delighted the information is forthcoming without me having to probe. "Oh, it's this fabulous car, purple with a four-wheel drive. It's amazing. It has a water-powered engine, it's very cheap to run - no need for petrol, you see, so it's environmentally friendly."

"Sounds brilliant, where did you see this?" I ask - again awaiting the information with anxious curiosity.

"Oh, you can't buy it," my six-year-old informs me.

"Did you see it on telly or in a shop or magazine?"

"No, this is a very special car - only Santa can get it for me. I had a dream and it was in my dream that I saw it."

I slowly begin to panic. Where would Santa get this amazing purple car?

My son, picking up on my anxious look, begins to reassure me. "Mom, Santa is magic, he can get anything. And I'm going to be especially good between now and Christmas. This car can fit four adults and has passenger doors so I can give everyone a spin - you'll just love it."

"He might have trouble getting it down the chimney. And where would it fit in our sitting room?"

"Sure Mom, he can leave me some of his magic powder. I can then bring the car outside, shake the powder on the car and `PUFF' the car will be big, no problem. Magic."

I hope Santa can come up with the goods this year. My son is convinced he will, and sure it is Christmas and Santa is magic, so no problem - just magic.
