The Burning Question: What do you think of blood sports?

I think fox-hunting should definitely be banned. It is really cruel and horrible for the fox. I used to have a pony and ride it but I would never go hunting because I just think it is awful. I do agree with sports like horseracing because the animals there really enjoy it. I wouldn't say the same about greyhoundracing though - the poor dogs are so thin. I don't think it's right.

I really think things like hunting foxes or deer should not be allowed because very soon they will be extinct. Badgers are lovely animals but if you see pictures on the television of them doing badger-baiting it is horrible. I do think horse-racing is an okay sport but something like the Grand National, where the horses are all bunched up and some fall, is not good.

I think fox-hunting is dreadful. It is really nasty to the animals. One poor fox has all these dogs chasing after him till he gets exhausted and then the dogs rip him apart - and some people think that is a sport! English people should not be allowed to come here to hunt if they can't do it over there. Farmers say that foxes kill their chickens, well they should put up better fences.

I think hunting is bad the way it is at the moment but I don't think it is bad altogether. I think when people are hunting the fox should be shot instead of letting the dogs attack it. Foxes are much cleverer than dogs and they very rarely get caught. I used to ride horses but have never hunted. I think fishing, with the hook, is a lot more cruel as a sport, but you would never be able to ban it.

I totally disagree with hunting. The animals have no idea what is happening to them - it's really cruel. I think using animals for sport is bad. Some people think horse-racing is OK but the horses can be treated really badly as well when the jockeys are trying to force them to win. Animals haven't done anything against us so why should we treat them this way?
