Andrew, 21, the main navigator is studying electrical engineering at UCC He has represented Ireland in many different classes of boat in many international regattas. A former national champion in the Mirror class, he has competed in a wide variety of events in small and large boats.
Rebecca, 20, the only permanent female member, is qualified in first aid and handles cleaning and cooking. She is studying European studies with economics at UCC. An accomplished sailor, she was selected for the Irish team at the World Championships in Canada. She has also represented Ireland in horse riding.
Rory, 24, is skipper He makes the final decisions. He has an honours degree in history from UCC and a diploma in business studies from the Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business, Dublin. He is a sailing instructor and an accomplished amateur photographer.
Tony, 21, is the main chef. Qualified in first aid, he is studying hotel management in Galway/Mayo IT and spent the summer of 1997 at the Conrad Hotel in Brussels. He has competed in a wide variety of national and international sailing events and is a former national champion in the Mirror class. He and his twin, Andrew, built a Mirror dinghy from scratch.
Simon, 26, was the skipper until he opted to take care of the family farm in Cork in May rather than head back out to sea. He has an honours degree in farm management from the Royal Agriculture College, Cirencester. Last month, he was elected to the Cork South Central Dail seat held by his late father.
