Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has invited the Israeli, Palestinian and Jordanian leaders to attend a summit in Egypt next week, an aide to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said today.
The meeting is to take place Sunday in Egypt, the aide said, adding that the Palestinians were demanding concrete results from the gathering, and that it would cause more harm than good if it ended without results.
"We want the summit to remove the [economic] siege and the checkpoints that suffocate the life of the Palestinian people," he said.
He said Mr Abbas also would seek a resumption of peace talks leading to the end of Israeli occupation and the establishment of a Palestinian state.
