Mogadishu - An eight-day hostage ordeal ended yesterday for two British aid workers when their Somali captor, Musa Sudi Yalahow, released them and allowed them to fly to neighbouring Kenya, Declan Walsh reports.
The UN security officers Mr Bill Condie (61) and Mr Roger Carter (41) were reunited with friends and family after their arrival in Nairobi.
Earlier in the day the aid workers were escorted from Musa Sudi's compound in a convoy of heavily armed trucks. They were handed to Omar Mohammed "Finish", another warlord who last week facilitated the early release of two other UN hostages.
They were among 10 aid workers taken captive last week after getting caught in a gun battle. Eight of the hostages had been released by Friday last.
