Eight people have been arrested in Limerick city this morning in connection with the murder of Lee Slattery in April.

Eight people have been arrested in Limerick city this morning in connection with the murder of Lee Slattery in April.

The body of Mr Slattery (24), Ballynanty, Limerick city, was discovered by his father in a shallow grave near the Moyross housing estate in Limerick on April 30th. He had been shot in the head.

Todays' operation was carried out by gardaí from Limerick supported by the Southern Regional Support Unit and the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

The five males and three females arrested range in ages from mid teens to early 40s and are being detained at various stations in the Limerick and Clare divisions.

Five individuals are being detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act while the others are being held under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act.
