A bomb killed 11 people in a shop selling sweets in the town of Iskindiraya south of Baghdad overnight, Iraqi police said today.
The bomb, which had been planted just outside the shop, also wounded five people, the police said.
They said the blast occurred in a mostly Shia area of the town.
Sunni Arab insurgents are waging a campaign of bombings and shootings in a bid to topple Iraq's Shia-led government.
