Scrumhalf Jean-Baptiste Elissalde will miss the rest of the Six Nations tournament after he tore a thigh muscle during France's 29-22 victory over Wales on Sunday.

The Toulouse player kicked 19 points against Wales and scored a try in a man-of-the-match performance in Cardiff before hobbling off in the dying minutes.

"Jean-Baptiste underwent tests this morning and there is bad news. He will be out of action for six weeks," Toulouse coach Guy Noves confirmed.

"He has torn muscle in his thigh. He won't be able to play France's last two games against Scotland and England and he's also been ruled out of Toulouse's European Cup quarter-final against Edinburgh (April 10)," Noves said.

France have already beaten Ireland, Italy and Wales in the tournament, and they are now favourites to win the Six Nations following Ireland's win at Twickenham.

Dimitri Yachvili, who has won 12 caps, is likely to start in Elissalde's place. Laporte, who will announce his squad at the team's training headquarters in Marcoussis, is not expected to make any other major changes from the squad selected for the Wales game.

Serge Betsen suffered an ankle injury at the weekend, but he should be fit to travel to Edinburgh on March 21st.
