A Boeing 767 of Delta Air Lines made an emergency landing at Brussels Zaventem airport yesterday after an engine failed shortly after take off.

Flight 141, bound for New York, took off at 12 p.m. with 160 passengers, but was forced to come back just 13 minutes later after one engine broke down, an official at the airport inspection authority said.

Nobody was hurt in the Brussels incident, the Zaventem airport official said.

It was unclear when passengers would be able to proceed with their journey.

"The technicians must check what was broken and repair it. Whether the plane will be repaired quickly or whether another plane will be requested, I don't know yet," he said.

Delta was until recently a partner of the Qualiflyer air alliance, which includes Belgian airline Sabena.

The official said the plane, the same model as that involved in the crash off Massachusetts, could be repaired by technicians of either firm.
