Disabled people had a major role to play in Ireland's booming economy, the Minister of State for Labour Affairs, Mr Tom Kitt, told a conference in Cork yesterday.
Mr Kitt said that the economy was now creating 1,000 jobs a week. "In this tightening labour market, employers must recognise that disabled people can meet the labour shortages in many sectors. I am not advocating that companies should employ people with disabilities out of tokenism. On the contrary, they should consider employing disabled people for the contribution they can make."
