Ireland 6 England 42
Ireland's Grand Slam ambitions lie in tatters this afternoon as England clinched the Six Nations clean sweep with a crushing victory at Lansdowne Road.
After a tight first half, Eddie O'Sullivan's men simply had no answer after the break as England finally got it right and ran away with the match.
Lawrence Dallaglio and Mike Tindall both scored tries before Will Greenwood crossed twice in the second half ahead of Dan Luger's injury-time effort as England steamrolled a tiring Irish side into the Lansdowne turf.
Ireland had taken an early lead with a drop goal by out half David Humphreys in the fifth minute but England hit back soon after, number eight Dallaglio crashing over for the opening try after being set up by scrum half Matt Dawson's darting break.
Although Humphreys narrowed the deficit with a long-range penalty in the 27th minute, the imperious Johnny Wilkinson, who controlled the game from behind the scrum, kicked a penalty of his, plus two right-footed drop goals, to put his side 13-6 ahead at the break.
England, who lost three successive grand slam deciders to Wales, Scotland and Ireland between 1999 and 2001, dominated the second half, tries by centres Tindall and Greenwood early in the fourth quarter sealing the win.
Greenwood then stole a second and Luger completed the victory in injury time.
