Training for a green future:Greenworks is a new training programme in sustainable technologies that will offer courses in Dublin, Cork, Sligo and Tipperary. With the aim of teaching people the skills they need for the green economy, the courses will cover topics such as tourism, land use, entrepreneurship, design and retrofitting. Cultivate, in the Greenhouse on St Andrew Street in Dublin 2, is to co-ordinate the courses, which will begin in early November and be free for jobseekers. A clearer view of biodiversity

To mark International Biodiversity Year, the Natural History Museum in Dublin will host a seminar on Irish biodiversity next Friday and Saturday. The free public seminar will be at the National Museum of Ireland’s archaeology branch, on Kildare Street. To book call 01-6486316. Also next Saturday, the guides of the National Parks and Wildlife Service will set up telescopes between 11am and 4pm for people to spot deer in Wicklow Mountains National Park. You’ll need hiking boots and rain gear to get to the locations, near Glendalough. See wicklowmountainsnational park.ie for details.

Green entrepreneurs keen to get involved in a recycling business will be able to take expert advice at two seminars organised by the rx3 network in Cork and Galway. The Department of Environment initiative hopes to identify opportunities for reprocessing waste materials here in Ireland to create businesses, jobs and expertise.
