Revenue has reported a compliance rate with the Local Property Tax and Household Charge of up to 95 per cent to the end of June this year.
In its latest report, it said the amount of households forthcoming with payments lay at 95 per cent and 94 per cent respectively for 2013 and 2014, amounting to a collection of €310 million.
This level of income stands at about 3.5 per cent ahead of forecasts.
Revenue says it has now moved its attention to debt collection and enforcement action against the minority of households who have not yet paid the charges.
In respect of Local Property Tax, it said that 40,000 mandatory deductions have been made from wages and pensions last year and 46,000 this year. About 61,000 deductions have been made for the Household Charge arrears.
In relation to the self-employed and companies, almost 9,600 tax clearance certificates have been refused.
“Enforcement action letters are also issuing to property owners taxed under the self-assessment system,” Revenue said.
“The letter informs the property owner that the outstanding liabilities will be referred to Sheriffs or Solicitors for collection or will be the subject of Attachment orders unless payment is immediately received.”
