More than 50 environmental protection research projects are to be unveiled at a major conference in Dublin today.

Among the presentations by international experts will be studies into the effect of climate change on Ireland's weather and how we can respond.

Experts will also demonstrate new technologies for environmental protection on climate change, water quality, biodiversity and land-use.The event is organised by the Environmental Protected Agency and director Dr Mary Kelly said the research would show how science can drive greener business.

"The provision of a sound evidence base is key for effective environmental protection," she said."It is vital, therefore, that the research community continues to provide high-quality, targeted outputs to be used by EPA and others, including policy makers.
