Mobile network equipment maker Ericsson said today it was undertaking a corporate reorganisation.

Ericsson's statement was less far-reaching than implied by a Swedish business news website report, which had said the company planned a major restructuring.

Ericsson said that after the reorganisation it would have three business units: Networks, Global Services and Multimedia.

"The new organisation will have an even stronger customer focus and pave the way for continuously improving efficiency in all areas," the firm said. It also planned to recruit 500 engineers to accelerate research, particularly in IP networks.
