Steven Gerrard has apologised to coach Sven-Goran Eriksson for going on a late-night drinking session just days before the World Cup qualifier against Greece.
Eriksson has accepted the apology, and the English midfielder has retained his place in the squad for Saturday's match at Old Trafford.
Gerrard (21) was reportedly seen with friends in a vodka bar up to 2 a.m. on Tuesday - only 11 hours before the England squad gathered to begin preparations.
In the build-up to the big match, Eriksson warned players who step out of line.
That followed his decision to drop midfielder Frank Lampard, who had taken part in a drinking session with three Chelsea team-mates in a Heathrow Hotel playing host to grieving US tourists shortly after the recent terrorist attacks.
When asked if a more senior player would be dealt with in the same manner, Eriksson had said: "We will see when it happens".
In his book, The Good Team,Eriksson said: "If a player breaks my rules on or off the field, he faces the consequences. I am particularly hard on drinking, partying or nightclubbing".
