An prisoner who escaped from Waterford District Court last Tuesday has been re-arrested by gardaí in Galway.
Oliver Walsh (45), of Roman's Walk, Cork, was sentenced on Tuesday afternoon to four months in Cork Prison for theft and fraud.
He and was in the custody of two prison officers for the return journey to the prison when he escaped, running out of the courthouse in the direction of a nearby park.
Walsh was convicted of failing to pay a hotel bill in Waterford last April. He was also serving a three-month sentence for impersonating a Garda and had previous convictions for arson and criminal damage.

He was arrested last night in a hostel in Galway city.
He has now been returned to Cork prison to serve the rest of his sentence.
