The first estimate for euro zone trade with the rest of the world in November 2002 was a €9.9 billion surplus, against €6.4 billion in November 2001, according to figures released by Eurostat, the EU's statistical office.
The revised October 2002 balance was €9.4 billion, compared with €10.1 billion in October 2001. Euro zone trade recorded a surplus of €95.2 billion for the first 11 months of 2002, against €40.7 billion in 2001.
The first estimate for November 2002 extra-EU15 trade was a €0.8 billion surplus, compared with a deficit of € 0.4 billion in November 2001. In October 2002, there was a revised surplus of €0.5 billion, against €3.4 billon in October 2001.
The EU15 recorded a surplus estimated at €4.5 billion in the first 11 months of 2002, compared with a deficit of €45.4 billion in 2001.
