The number of people visiting Ireland in in April this year remained almost static on last April's figures according to statistics released today by the Central Statistics Office (CSO).
However the number of people travelling from Ireland overseas showed an increase of 74,600 on last April's figure of 544,200.
The statistics show that trips made to this country by residents of the UK fell by 16,100 since April last year, however there was an increase in the number of overseas visitors from other European countries.
Trips to Ireland by residents of North America (including Canada) and other areas (including Africa, Australia, Japan and South America) both increased by 1,000.
