A former paramilitary prisoner was jailed for 12 years today for raping and sexually molesting his girlfriend's two teenage sisters.
His partner, who procured the girls, aged 13 and 15, for her lover, was sentenced to three years at Belfast Crown Court.
The couple, who cannot be named to protect the identity of their victims, showed no emotion as Mr Justice Weir described their crimes as degrading and depraved.
The court heard the man (30), who was out on licence when the offences were committed in 2001 and 2004, had previous convictions for attempted murder, membership of a proscribed organisation, burglary and possession of drugs.
Judge Weir identified the man as the main instigator and said he encouraged his partner (27) to co-operate. He told the woman: "I do not believe you would have become involved in this litany of depravity had it not been for his malign influence."
