A former US Marine who abducted a 12-year-old British girl was jailed for four-and-half years at Manchester Crown Court today.
Toby Studabaker (32), from Michigan, had also admitted incitement to gross indecency with the girl, whom he contacted over the Internet.
An international police hunt was launched last July after the youngster, who cannot identified for legal reasons, went missing with Studabaker.
The pair travelled to a Paris hotel where they stayed for a few days before the girl returned to her parents. Studabaker was arrested in Germany and subsequently extradited to Britain.
The pair had been communicating via e-mail for several months before the abduction.
Although Studabaker denied knowing the girl's age, records show she told him early in their contact that she was 11.
