An explosion today in the basement of a court in Ukraine's capital Kiev injured up to ten people.
A spokesman for the capital's Interior Ministry said the building was badly damaged by the blast at at 11:45 a.m. in the cellar of the court building in an eastern suburb.
"A duty policeman who was guarding the building smelled carbide," he said, adding an investigation was under way.
Carbide is a chemical compound, used to make tools that cut metal and in welding.
Interfax-Ukraine news agency quoted an official at the Interior Ministry as saying the injured were not in critical condition.
