The value of trade between the Republic and the rest of the world increased marginally in March, according to the latest data from the Central Statistics Office (CSO).
Seasonally adjusted trade figures show that the value of exports rose from €7,092 million to €7,125 million.
In the same month, imports decreased from €3,854 million to €3,683 million, a drop of 4 per cent.
On an unadjusted basis, the value of exports in March 2004 was €7,995 million, up 13 per cent on March last year.

The CSO noted that exports have been revised downwards for the individual months of January to March 2004 because of revised returns from traders. The scale of the revision was €668 million.
