Iarnrod Eireann put extra security guards on the DART service last night in an effort to meet drivers' concerns over safety. They met senior Garda officers to discuss the provision of extra back-up if required. Both measures were taken to try and avert a curfew on northbound DART services from 6.40 p.m. on Monday by drivers.
SIPTU branch secretary Mr Tony Tobin said his members would be evaluating the effect of the measures, but he did not rule out action on Monday. The action, if it went ahead, would be unofficial.
