In a mature garden on the Hill of Howth I saw a canary-yellow "hairy molly" caterpillar with black bands and an upright tuft of red hairs at its tail

It was the caterpillar of the Pale Tussock moth and was once called the Hop-Dog from its appetite for that plant.
