Chief executive Bernard O’Byrne and treasurer Brendan Menton will be among FAI delegates meeting this evening in Jurys Hotel, Ballsbridge to discuss the future and feasibility of eircom Park.
O’Byrne will brief stadium directors with detailed reports of his talks with potential partner and constructor Davy Hickey Properties. Menton, on the other hand, will be supplying the board with detailed accounts of his meeting with the Government last week.
The 21 members of the Board of Management will study a detailed dossier proposed by Davy Hickey Properties regarding the funding and construction of the 45,000 seater stadium at City West in Dublin.
The FAI had shunted suggestions of teaming up with the government’s Stadium Ireland proposal, but with the cost of funding eircom Park now spiraling past £130 million, the FAI may be forced to reconsider becoming anchor tenants of Stadium Ireland.
In light of the fact that the previous meeting discussing eircom Park lasted into the early hours, it remains unclear how many issues will be dealt with and resolved at this evening's meeting.
