The number of overseas visitors to Ireland has fallen slightly from August to October, according to the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO).
The total number of overseas trips to Ireland stood at 1,903,900, a drop of 3,500 on figures for the same period last year.
While trips by residents of North America and Britain fell by 2.5 and 1.7 per cent to 292,300 and 844,600 respectively this was offset by an increase in visitors from other areas.
Some 659,600 people - an increase of 2.4 per cent - came from European countries, not including Britain, while visitors from other areas increased by 2.6 per cent to 107,300.
The total number of overseas trips by Irish residents also fell by 6.3 per cent to 1,795,900.
The CSO also revealed that Irish people are making less trips both home and abroad when compared to previous years. Overall trips stood at 3,699,900 down 3.2 per cent on the same period last year which in turn was 2.9 per cent below the 2009 figure.
