Egyptian police have questioned the father and wife of the man who shot two people dead at Los Angeles International Airport airport.
Mr Hesham Mohamed Hadayet, an Egyptian, opened fire killing two people at Israel's El Al ticket counter before being shot to death by a guard.
US Police who went to his home in Irvine, California, were told Hadayet's wife and children had left for Egypt.
The husband of Mr Hadayet's aunt, Mr Hassan Mostafa Mahfouz, said Mr Hadayet's wife and sister were taken away for questioning by Egyptian intelligence.
Mr Mahfouz, a retired general, said: "I don't believe what happened. I don't believe the American government's reports because they are confusing."
He said the family was waiting for confirmation from the American Embassy about Hesham's involvement. "We want to be sure if he is behind the attack."
"He is a very, very tender person and close to his family," He added.
Mr Hadayet (41) a limousine driver, had lived in the United States for 10 years and was married with two children.
Mr Mahfouz said that July 4th was Mr Hadayet's birthday and that Mr Hadayet had called his father on Thursday as he knew he would want to wish him happy birthday.
