Dubliner Ken Doherty struck a remarkable vein of form to complete a fantastic 6-5 comeback victory against Shaun Murphy in the quarter-finals of the SAGA Insurance Masters at Wembley last night.
Doherty, who has never won the Masters, found himself trailing 4-1 before everything started to click. Having hauled back to 4-3 he briefly looked like making a maximum on his way to recording the high break of the tournament with a 141 to level the match.
With his confidence on a high Doherty rattled in a break of 114 in the next frame to leave himself needing just one more for victory.
Murphy made a brave clearance of 70 to take the match to a deciding frame but Doherty was not to be denied and another century break, this time of 123, was enough to secure the match.
