It was a meeting of old friends when the Anne Madden show opened in the Hugh Lane gallery on Wednesday evening. Anne, looking like a flamenco dancer complete with fan, was accompanied by her husband Louis le Brocquy and her son, Pierre le Brocquy. Pierre, who is an art dealer living in Paris, has just finished his mother's website and is now working on his father's, as well as helping with an exhibition of Louis's work in Slovenia next March.
Artist Stephen McKenna was there with his wife, Chung Eun Mo; she has just finished exhibiting at the Kerlin while Stephen will have a show there shortly. Hospice Foundation chairwoman Marie Donnelly was busy with plans for the Christmas Ball at Powerscourt, while Radius TV's Bill Hughes is working on a new documentary for RTE about 100 years of lesbian and gay sexuality in Ireland.
Other members of Madden crowd were Anthony Cronin and Anne Haverty, Pearse O'Reilly and Jason Butler of Fever ID, a new multimedia design company, Kevin Kavanagh of the Jo Rain Gallery and artist Paul Nugent, who recently exhibited with him.
