A farmer was charged yesterday with smuggling eight million cigarettes found in a swoop by Customs officers in Portadown last weekend.
Mr Neil Magill (21), from Ivy House, Poyntzpass, Co Armagh, faced two charges of evading Excise duty on the cigarettes when he appeared at Belfast Magistrates Court. He was remanded until December 3rd on his own bail of £10,000 and a surety of £40,000.
