The man accused of causing the death of a woman during a bus chase in Dublin last weekend is receiving psychiatric treatment in the Central Mental Hospital in Dundrum, a court was told today.
Peter Clarke (36) of Kiltalawn Court in Jobstown, Tallaght has been charged with dangerous driving causing the death of Maire Buckley on the Naas Road in Dublin last Sunday.
He was due to appear at Clover Hill District Court this morning after being remanded in custody following his arrest last Sunday.
However, Judge Thomas Fitzpatrick was told Mr Clarke was unable to attend court for two weeks as he was receiving treatment in the mental hospital.
A sick warrant was issued and the case adjourned until May 25th.
Mr Clarke was arrested by gardaí in Tallaght Hospital last Sunday in connection with a series of incidents on the Naas Road in Dublin.
More than a dozen people were injured, including a number of gardaí, as a coach was driven at speed on the Naas Road dual carriageway and in the LUAS tramway.
It is alleged the bus had been taken from Dualway Coaches, where Mr Clarke was an employee, from its depot in Rathcoole in Co Dublin on Sunday morning.
Mrs Buckley (62), from Donnycarney, was buried today following a funeral service at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Sean McDermott Street, Dublin.
