The woman killed yesterday in a two-car crash near the Cork/Kerry border was last night named as Ms Catherine Deasy (60), of Ballyhutch, Courtmacsherry, Co Cork. She was a back seat passenger in one of the cars which collided at Cloontes Cross near Rathmore, Co Kerry, at around 12.15 p.m. Five others were taken to Cork University Hospital with injuries which were not life-threatening.
Meanwhile, a pedestrian killed near Mitchelstown, Co Cork, on Saturday morning has been named as Mr John Holmes (40), from Carrigane, Mitchelstown. A butcher, Mr Holmes died after being hit by a van on the Cork/Dublin Road at Coolnanave, Mitchelstown, at 12.10 a.m.
