A hearing of the case brought by Mr G - the unmarried father who is seeking the return of his twin sons to Ireland - has been formally adjourned at the High Court in London to December 18th.
Mr G's action in the British courts seeks the return of his children under the Hague Convention on child abduction. However, his solicitor indicated that yesterday's postponement would allow a prior hearing by the Supreme Court in Dublin of the appeal by Ms O, the mother of the children, against an earlier High Court ruling by Mr Justice Liam McKechnie that the children's continuing presence in Britain was unlawful.
The Irish Times understands the Supreme Court is now expected to set the date for the hearing on November 9th, and that the appeal will then be heard between that date and December 18th.
In his ruling earlier this month Mr Justice McKechnie said the retention of the boys in Britain breached Mr G's custody rights and the custody rights of the Trim District Court to which Mr G made an application for custody on March 9th.
