FBI agents today arrived before dawn to search the home of OJ Simpson in what the FBI said was an investigation related to a suspected ecstasy ring.
Mr Simpson, who was not arrested, was spotted at the house by local media as the agents arrived to his home in the south Miami suburb of Kendall where he moved a year ago. He later left the house in his black sports utility vehicle.
The FBI told local media that the search by the FBI and agents from the Drug Enforcement Agency, which included sniffer dogs, was related to a suspected local ecstasy drug ring.
Mr Simpson (54) made the headlines during his trial and acquittal in 1995 following the stabbing murders of ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend, Ronald Goldman.
Just six weeks ago, he was acquitted by a Miami jury in a road rage case and found not guilty of auto burglary and battery in a case that could have put him in prison for up to 16 years.
His October trial involved an incident in which Mr Simpson was accused of grabbing another driver's glasses and scratching his face in Kendall traffic last year.
