Fears have been expressed for the safety of an Irish pilgrim to Medjugorje who has not been seen for several days.
Winifred (Winnie) Brady from Airfield, Raheny, Co Dublin, has been missing since Wednesday afternoon.
Speaking on RTÉ radio her daughter, Carmel Moody, said that the owner of the hotel last saw her mother saying she was going for a stroll. It is thought that was about 1pm on Wednesday.
"Her passport, her money, everything belonging to her medication was all left in her room. It was like she just walked out and disappeared," she said.
The missing woman has arthritis in her knees. "She could not have gone far with her knee, and was in pain," Ms Moody said.
Her mother travelled to Medjugorje in a group. "They had been due to go to a mass up the mountains, but Winnie's leg was very sore she said to the girls I will just stay here and rest it. Her friends then came back at 2pm, but she was gone."
A full-scale search, involving local police, has been launched. Posters of the missing woman have been put up and the local media has featured the case.
The Department of Foreign Affairs has been assisting the family, and Ms Moody's father and her uncle have also travelled to Medjugorje to look for her mother.
"So far nothing has come up, and there have been no sightings of her. She has just vanished from the face of the earth," she said.
Ms Brady has been to Medjugorje in two previous occasions. "She knows the area, and loves it there," her daughter said.
She travelled to Medjugorje with Marian Pilgrimages. The company was not immediately available for comment.
