Fees for matters dealt with by the District Court have been increased by an average 20 per cent by the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, Mr O'Donoghue. The new charges will come in next month.
Mr O'Donoghue yesterday announced the Order increasing the fees and revising the fee structure in the District Court. This follows a revision of the general District Court rules last May.
The increases will mainly affect licensing matters. For example, the cost of an exemption of the licensing laws or a renewal of a bar licence will increase from £20 to £24.
Certain fees in criminal and civil matters will see similar increases. The Minister said fees for actions taken in the Circuit, High and Supreme Courts were also under review.
