All sailings of the HSS Stena Explorerfrom Dún Laoghaire to Holyhead have been cancelled due to "technical problems", the company said. The next available sailing from Dún Laoghaire will be at 11.10am tomorrow morning.

Passengers should contact 01-2047777 to make alternative bookings and can check the status of sailings on all routes at 01-2047799.

Stena said all of its other services are expected to sail to schedule. All Irish Ferries services are expected to sail as planned today.

Tomorrow, there will be some extra traffic in the Blanchardstown/Ballycoolin area of Dublin due to the Fingal Sprint Triathalon event at the National Aquatic Centre.

Motorists have been advised to avoid the area around Snugboro Road, Ballycoolin, and Blanchardstown Road between 11.30am and 3pm. Some 300 people will compete in the triathalon event, which consists of a 750-metre swim, 20 kilometre cycle and a five-kilometre run.

AA Roadwatch has urged motorists to take care on the roads today due to wet conditions everywhere. There is a lot of surface water in many places, particularly in Donegal, Clare, Galway and Tipperary.

There were some delays on the new Finglas-Ashbourne bypass on the N2 yesterday as motorists became accustomed to traffic lay-outs. All drivers have been urged to take care on this route and to be patient as motorists get used to the new arrangements.

In Kerry, the new N21 road outside Abbeyfeale opens today.

A section of the Courtown Road in Wexford is closed until 7pm tonight for work on the new Gorey bypass, and diversions are in place.

In Limerick, road resurfacing is taking place on the N20 from Banogue to Hynes Cross until September. A one-way system is in place.

In Dublin, Reuben Street is closed between Pricewyse Stores and St James's Walk until April 17th next year in order to facilitate work on the Fatima Regeneration Project.

On the sporting front this weekend, some GAA fixtures will cause minor disruption to traffic.

The Munster Intermediate and Senior Hurling Championship semi-finals take place in Semple Stadium, Thurles on Sunday.

Gardaí have put a traffic diversion programme in place in the town. Car parks will be open on all main approach routes to the stadium and there will be no parking in the Semple Stadium area.

The Garda reminded motorists to secure and lock their vehicles, not to leave valuables on display and, if possible, to park in supervised car parks.

Galway play Sligo in the Connacht Senior Football Championship at Pearse Park tomorrow at 5.30pm.

Croke Park in Dublin is the venue for two Leinster Senior Football Championship matches on Sunday. Wexford are set to play Meath at 2.10pm, followed by the Kildare versus Offaly clash at 4pm.

Tyrone play Derry in the Ulster championship on Sunday at 2.15pm.
