Some ferry sailings have been cancelled today due to bad weather.
Irish Ferries Swift sailings on the Dublin to Holyhead route at midday and 2.30pm have been cancelled. Passengers will be accommodated on the later Cruise Ferry sailing, the company said.
Stena Line’s Explorer sailings on the Dún Laoghaire to Holyhead route at 11.30am and 5.45pm have also been cancelled.
The company said it will accommodate passengers on the regular ferry service departing from terminal 2 at 9.15pm.
AA Roadwatch reported that road conditions are very wet and windy around the country.
It advised motorists to reduce speed and watch out for fallen debris, particularly on back roads.
Gardai have, meanwhile, mounted a bank holiday safety campaign, with a number of ‘supercheckpoints’ in the greater Dublin area.
The Garda said these checkpoints will be capable of carrying out random breath tests for alcohol on large numbers of motorists.
