The refusal by a Mayo Fianna Fail county councillor to attend the council's a.g.m. yesterday forced the party to do a deal with an Independent councillor. Cllr Gerry Murray said his decision to boycott the meeting was based on the Government's adoption of the Waste Management (Amendment) Bill. His abstention reduced the party's majority of one and forced a deal with an Independent councillor, Mr Richard Finn, who was elected Leas-Cathaoirleach.
