Senator Helen Keogh of Fine Gael has today called for a Garda inquiry into "incidents of repeated vandalism" that have caused disruption to thousands of DART line users.

Trains travelling northbound between Booterstown and Dún Laoghaire experienced delays because of damage to overhead power lines which seems to have been caused by vandals.
Ms Keogh said she was aware of widespread frustration and anger among the travelling public in Dún Laoghaire, Greystones and Bray at constant breakdowns in the service.
She also said she believed the repeated nature of the vandalism, causing major disruptions to DART services, demanded a thorough Garda investigation.
"Given the scale of the disruption, it is no longer acceptable that Iarnród Éireann should shrug its shoulders and tell rail commuters to grin and bear it. What is now needed is a major Garda investigation into the nature and source of the vandalism, as well as a root-and-branch review of security on the DART line."
