Fianna Fail's 65th Ard fheis has been postponed because of the foot-and-mouth outbreak in Co Louth. The two-day event was due to take place on April 6th and 7th.
The party's general secretary, Mr Martin Macken, said yesterday that in recent weeks the ongoing threat from the disease had meant the event had been kept under continuous review.
"Given today's news it has now decided to postpone the ardfheis to a future date. We know that all those involved in the participation of such a large-scale event will understand how important it is for all of is to play our collective part in facing this challenge."
