Some 15 people have been killed in a road accident in southeast Romania when an overturned truck carrying ammonia exploded.
Two journalists from private television Antena 1, filming firefighters trying to put out the flames and policemen who had rushed to the scene in Mihailesti, about 70 kilometres (43 miles) from Bucharest, were killed in the blast.
"The explosion happened at around 5.50 local (2.50 Irish time) as firefighters were trying to extinguish the fire," a police spokeswoman said.
The state Rompres news agency said about 15 people were killed, including five firefighters. A 15-year-old girl was among 12 others injured, police said.
Television showed a taxi driver dead in his damaged car, and other mangled cars and debris from the blast scattered hundreds of metres away.
The explosion caused a 14 metre-wide crater, damaged several nearby houses in Mihailesti and disrupted traffic on the national road linking the capital to the city of Buzau. Officials said the road would be blocked for two weeks.
