The Limerick man at the centre of the alleged financial irregularities involving more than £300,000 was released from hospital yesterday, where he was receiving psychiatric treatment.
It was learned yesterday that Mr Pat Foote, of Fairyfield, Parteen, Co Clare, is no longer under medical supervision. Gardai have already spoken to him and it is understood that a file will go to the DPP.
Mr Foote, a financial consultant, was a director of the Irish Mortgage and Finance Bureau Ltd., which operated at 57 O'Connell Street, Limerick. The company is now closed. It had not applied for or received authorisation to act as a mortgage broker under the regulations.
Gardai believe that the exact amount of money and the number of people affected will never be known, as people, for their own reasons, have not made complaints to the Gardai. Statements have been taken from some investors with the company.
