A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions after a man who was arrested for questioning in connection with the drowning of a woman in Cork was released without charge.
The body of Marion O'Leary (54) was recovered from the river Lee by emergency services on October 18th last.
A postmortem revealed Ms O'Leary had died by drowning and gardaí have been treating the death as suspicious.
A man in his 30s who was arrested under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act for questioning in connection with the death has been released without charge from the Bridewell Garda station and a file is to be prepared for the DPP.
Ms O'Leary was originally from Gurranebraher but had been living rough for some time before her death. She was last seen drinking at the Albert Quay area of Cork city the night before her body was found.
She is believed to have been involved in an altercation with at least one other person before she entered the river in the early hours of October 18th.
Gardaí have interviewed more than 130 witnesses and had been looking for a man who was in the area of Albert Quay at about the time that Ms O'Leary entered the water to come forward to speak to them.
