The organisers of the Cork Film Festival have announced that this year's event will open with the latest offering from the Coen brothers, No Country for Old Men, and close with Ang Lee's award-winning Lust, Caution.
Joel and Ethan Coen's adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's novel, which opens the festival on Sunday, October 14th, has won much praise from critics, who have hailed it as the brothers' finest offering since Fargo in 1996.
The festival closes on Sunday, October 21st, with Ang Lee's offering which stars Asian cinema icon Tony Leung opposite newcomer Tang Wei. It is an erotic espionage thriller set in Shanghai during the second World War.
Corona Cork Film Festival director Mick Hannigan said last night that both films were sure to delight audiences, who would be able to see them in advance of their US releases.
