Fine Gael has proposed a number of measures to help ease traffic gridlock in Dublin, including more public and private buses and raising the toll bridge barriers.
Party leader Enda Kenny pledged 200 more buses for Dublin Bus and 100 new operator licences if his party was elected to govern.
Mr Kenny suggested the Westlink toll bridge barriers be raised at peak times to help traffic flow, and implement off-peak work at night and on Sundays to speed up the M50 upgrade.
Other proposals in the party's traffic management document included colour coding bus lanes to make motorists aware of when they can be used, beginning Operation Freeflow earlier in the year, and making greater use of traffic light sensor technology that will alter signal sequences in response to traffic volumes.
"These are proposals that can be delivered in a short space of time and can deliver an actual benefit to the people around Dublin struggling with that torturous commute," Mr Kenny said. "Political will, better planning and embracing new ideas is what will make it happen."
