THE BIG exodus to Oxegen '11 gets under way with the gates at Punchestown racecourse opening at midday today for thousands of music fans.
Early arrivals will sadly have to contend with rather typical Oxegen weather. Met Éireann is predicting showers or longer spells of rain with temperatures no higher than 17 degrees today.
Something similar is forecast for tomorrow, but the weather is to improve on Saturday and Sunday with spells of sunshine and a chance the rain will stay away.
The car parks and campsites open from noon while Goffs will be open at 1.30pm for those who choose to park and ride.
AA Roadwatch is expecting the heaviest traffic tomorrow as campers make their way there.
There have been a number of additions to the site this year most notably campsite bars for the first time at off-licence prices and Heineken, the main festival sponsors, will be providing cold rooms for their products.
Early arrivals will be able to enjoy a number of tribute acts including Man in the Mirror, a tribute to Michael Jackson, Legend, a tribute to Bob Marley and Definitely MightBe, an Oasis tribute band.
