Online financial services company first-e group has announced this evening that 245 employees in Dublin are to be made redundant, leaving a remaining staff of 35.

In a statement released today first-e’s parent company Banque d`Escompte will be closing its Internet channel in Britain and Germany at the beginning of October, and concentrating on its core French market.

First-e’s banking business has been transferred to German bank DAB AG.

Commenting today, Dr Gerhard Huber, chief executive of first-e group stated, that is a source of great regret that redundancies have been created arising from this announcement.
