Tuesday night saw Big Telly theatre company's first venture south of the Border and a lot of the city's culture vultures had turned up at the Project @ the Mint to check out its show, To Hell With Faust.
Phelim Donlon represented the Arts Council, and Joe Long, chair of the Project board also came along to the show.
Irene Kernan of Bedrock theatre company was there, although the company itself is currently in Adelaide where Jimmy Fay is directing Alex Johnson's new play Deep Space. Playwright Mark O'Rowe was there with his girlfriend Aoife Ruane of IMMA, and was chatting about an upcoming project with director John Breen which he described as "a play that shows the laws of the universe reflecting human relations".
Artists Finola Jones, David Godbold and Alice Maher were there - Alice is working on a piece with Fiach MacConghail, the Project director, and composer Trevor Knight.
Other first-nighters were Roger Doyle of Operating Theatre Co; Anne Enright who is currently Trinity's writer in residence; Martin Murphy, director of TEAM theatre, and Ali Curran, director of the Fringe Festival, who was heading to Stratford the next day to check out John Crowley's production of Lalor In Paris.
